Ride to Roadside Willies – Truro, NS August 28 Ten (10) riders and co-riders (Klem, Jacy, Doug, Maureen, Brian, Vicki, Stephen, Jonathan, Jacques and Louise) left the A&W shortly after 1 pm. We headed out through Dieppe and on to RTE106 through Dorchester and Sackville. We then got on the TCH and made a “pit stop” at the Nova Scotia Tourism building. We then followed the back road into Amherst and on to RTE2 and stopped at the Tim Horton in Parrsboro. We then continued on RTE2 and stopped at the Masstown Market in Masstown. Brian and Vicki headed back to Riverview. We then continued on RTE4/RTE4 over HWY102 to Bible Hill on RTE331 and turned left on RTE4 to the Roadside Willies Smokehouse and Bar. We had supper and following supper, there was a fundraiser for Jonathan Henry who has qualified for the World Down syndrome Swimming Championships in Taipai, Taiwan. We listen for a while to an incredible Celtic band, Cod Liver Oil, who performed and all the proceeds of the tickets went to the fundraiser. There were presentations and close to $1,500 was raised for the Jonathan's Quest fund. We left around 9:30 pm and headed straight home via the TCH. To view the photos Click here. September 21 and 22 – Chapter “NB-A” Pizza Run to Saint Jacques, NB Day 1 - Saturday We left the Petro Canada at 9 am and got on the TCH and took the HYW10 exit to Youngs Cove where we took RTE105 and made a “pit stop” at Casey’s Diner in Sheffield. The weather was simply perfect for motorcycling. We continued on RTE105 through Maugerville and across the Princess Margaret Bridge and on to Prospect Street in Fredericton. We then got on RTE102 (Old TCH) and stopped at Everett’s Apple Orchard to visit with Chuck and Win. We then continued on RTE102 and stopped for gas and lunch at the Acorn Restaurant in Lake George near Kings Landing. We then continued on RTE102 to Nackawick where we had to get back on the TCH and got back on the Old TCH where it becomes RTE165 until we get to Woodstock and back on the TCH. We then take RTE590 to RTE103, where we stop in Hartland at the Tim Horton across from the Hartland Bridge to pick up Wayne and Ann Britton. Wayne and Ann are GWRRA members and past Chapter Directors of the now closed Chapter “NB-B”. We then continue on RTE103 to Perth-Andover and get back on the TCH and make a “pit stop” at the Petro Canada Gas Station in St. Leonard. We then get on RTE144 through Edmundston and on to the Auberge Les Jardins in Saint Jacques, NB, where we had booked for the night. It is now shortly after 4 pm, the temperature is still great and it is time to get out the munchies and the “wobbly pop”. Jacy had made several “jello shots” that was enjoyed by many. We had reservations for supper at 7 pm. Wayne and Ann headed back to Hartland around 6:30 as we were calling for taxis to take us to the Pizza Patrimoine. The taxis arrived and took us to the Restaurant, where we were served by Helene. The pizza, the wine and most importantly the company was great. After supper, we called the taxis to take us back to the Auberge but it is taking too much time so Brian, Vicki, Lewis and Sylvie started walking back to the Auberge. One taxi finally arrived to take the rest of us to the Auberge and we passed the group walking about half way to the Auberge. We sent the taxi out to get them and we finished off the evening in a “tail gate” style event with a few more “wobbly pops” and great conversations. To view the photos Click here. Day 2 - Sunday We left the Auberge around 8 am after finding out that the Inn no longer serves a hot breakfast. We headed out on Main Street and stopped to fill up the bikes at the Irving Station. We then rode a short distance to the Jac-Pit Restaurant where we had a lovely breakfast served by a Gold Wing Co-Rider named Yvonne. We then rode to Louise’s sister’s home in Saint Jacques to pick up a couple of “pizza spice” bottles for Serge. We forgot about it the night before while we were at the Pizza Patrimoine. Probably too much "jello shots" and wine...lol... We then headed east on the TCH through Edmundston and took the HWY17 exit in Saint Leonard. We rode north on HWY17 and stopped for a break at the Tim Horton in St. Quentin. What a beautiful day, a bit chilly and foggy when we left but now the sun is out and it is superb. We continued on HWY17 north through Kedgwick and on to HYW11 in Atholville and through Campbellton. We stopped for gas at the Osprey Truck Stop in Ell River Crossing and had lunch at the Osprey 4 Season Restaurant. We then continued on HYW11 and took HYW8 to Miramichi where we had a “pit stop” at the Tim Horton. We then searched for an ice cream parlour and found one "The Tasty Treats" in Napan where we stopped for gas and an ice cream. We then continued on HWY11 through Richibucto, Bouctouche and headed to our respective homes. It was a great ride with great weather and great friends. To view the photos Click here.

Bike Night at Toys for Big Boys
July 29 -Again, members of Chapter "A" (Klem, Jacy, Doug, Maureen, Lewis, Brian and Bruce) attended the "Bike Night" at Toys for Big Boys. After a while, Klem, Doug and Maureen, Lewis and Brian rode to Sussex for coffee and cake. Jacy stayed behind to sell 50/50 tickets.

July 24 - Chapter “A” of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association undertook a great fundraiser initiative for a very special person in the name of Jonathan Henry. Jonathan has qualified for the World Down Syndrome Swimming Championships in Taipei, Taiwan from October 1 to 8, 2010. He is one of only eight swimmers who have qualifying times to represent Canada at this event.
The fundraiser was a great success and the weather was extremely cooperative. During the event, we had the visit of “Wild Willy”, the mascot of the Moncton Wildcats; we also had a few athletes from the IAAF World Junior Championship from Australia who paid us a visit. The Moncton Fire Department with one fire truck and C103 were also present. But most importantly, it is the many, many people and the many motorcyclists that stop by to donate money towards the purchase of a hot dog or a burger or beverage, a 50/50/gifts ticket and poker hands that made this event a huge success. Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone.
Also, a special THANK YOU goes out to Klem and JC who put a lot of time and energy in coordinating this event. Without their commitment this event would not have been as successful as it was. Thanks to all the volunteers who work tirelessly during the event and thanks to the many sponsors who donated to this event.
At the closing of the fundraiser at Smitty’s, the Chapter was honoured to present a mock cheque in the amount of $2,155.63 to Jonathan. However, during the awarding of the prizes, a couple of participants donated their prizes to be auctioned off and another $81.00 was collected for a grand total of $2,236.63.
